Progress Report: Surrender to Ruin

As many of you know, I have been working on revisions to Surrender to Ruin. The good news is that I’m finally feeling like the story is where I want it to be. I’m in a paper read through stage with the book. When that’s done, I’ll be sending it back to my editor for another look. The sum up is this: the story is complete and it’s really truly very close to a version I can send to copy-editing. But not yet.

  1. Hey Carolyn,
Well done on your progress. I’m working on my first novel at the moment and was wondering how long it takes you to write your novels normally. Looking forward to reading your latest novel. Thanks

    • Hey Barry! Thanks for the good wishes. Normally I would have a complete draft of a 90-100,000 word novel in 3-4 months, targeting 1000 words per day. Then I would typically do 2-6 weeks of revisions before the MS goes to my editor. Roughly speaking. Best of luck with your novel! Let me know how it goes.
