I’m totally Psyched to have New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh visiting my blog today. Yay!!!! She has a brand new book out and I’m pimping her right here. That’s right. Nalini Singh. Right here at my blog! squeeeeeee! Plus, there’s a contest. You could win a free book. Read through to the end of the post to see what you need to do.

And, if you happen to subscribe to my newsletter, one of you will win a book, too! Because I’m awesome that way, and so is Nalini. Need proof? Read on.

Carolyn Poses Important Questions to Nalini

Carolyn: Eric Northman or Vampire Bill?

Nalini: I think Eric. Or maybe Bill. Eric. Bill. Do I have to choose???

Yes. You have to chose. I’ll put you down in the Eric column.

Carolyn: You’re walking along the forest path when an amazingly hot elf blocks your way. (Assume he closely resembles Orlando Bloom after a 16 week workout regimen rigorously observed.) After you admire his impressive sword with jeweled hilt, he offers you one of two gifts, your choice. Which do you choose, the Elixir of Immortality or fluency in any language?

Nalini: On the face of it, this one is a no brainer – the Elixir, of course, because if you have a millennium or two, learning languages isn’t going to be a problem.

However, I’m not sure I’d like to live forever – especially if it was only me who was changed. Can you imagine what it would be like to watch everyone around you grow old while you remained forever young? It would be different if those I loved were also given the chance to be immortal. (The gift and price of immortality is actually something I’ve considered a lot, as it’s one of the threads in my Guild Hunter series.)

You raise some good points. Plus, what if the Elixir didn’t confer eternal youth? Elves can be tricky that way.

Carolyn: Which creeps you out more? Spiders hanging from the ceiling (right over your bed) or eyes that glow in the dark (in your closet)?

Nalini: The spiders, hands down! (Have you seen The Grudge? That scene where all that hair is hanging down from the ceiling? Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy!)

I spend many nights staring at my closet.

Carolyn: Dark chocolate or milk?

Nalini: Chocolate in any form is a winner for me.

Glad to hear it, Nalini. It’s important to be open minded and flexible about these things.

Carolyn: For the purposes of this question, assume these two items are equal in value. I know you wouldn’t want to be cheap. You’re shopping someplace exclusive with someone else’s bucket o’ cash. What do you get me? Diamond earrings (highest quality and exquisitely cut and set) or a brand new top of the line Jag (insurance pre-paid for life of car)

Well, if it’s someone else’s (endless) bucket o’ cash, why not both? *g* But if I had to choose, I think I’d go for the diamonds – you could wear and enjoy them 24/7 if you so wished. (Though I suppose you could live in your Jag if you wanted to.)

You are my BFF.

About the Book

Stripped of her memories by a shadowy oppressor, and programmed to carry out cold-blooded murder, Katya Haas is fighting desperately for her sanity itself. Her only hope is Dev. But how can she expect to gain the trust of a man who could very well be her next target? For in this game, one must die. . .

I like those really important questions — very illuminating! OK – this is a little tough. Only one hero? I'm quite fond of Quinn from the Riley Jensen books, and Jean-Claude — *drool*. But I think maybe, Jamie from the Outlander books. Though I don't think I would be quite as self-sufficient if transported back 300+ years as Claire was, so he'll have to be VERY understanding.

Thanks Carolyn and Nalini for the awesome giveaway!

  2. Angie says:

My eyebrows are fine, but the rest of me feels like someone took a blowtorch to Jell-O!!!!! Since I immediately dove into a pool of ice water after that HOT excerpt, I have been able to post my comments…

I would want Eric Northman, specifically Alexander Skarsgard looking Eric Northman, to comfort me during my difficult bout with amnesia. From what I've read, I know he has ample -clearing throat-resources to stir the memories out of me. Hee-hee.
Besides, Eric owes someone for taking care of him during his own bout of amnesia, so let it be me instead of Sookie.
I'll even let Carolyn have her ways with him first. See how I'm so generous and all. Wink!

  3. RKCharron says:

    Hi 🙂
    Thanks for the fun interview.
I would awake upon the doorstep of Georgina from Richelle Mead's Succubus series.
    All the best,

  4. Madd says:

Oh, the choices! I narrowed it down to two that I really had a hard time choosing between. Those two were the Woede from Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series. I finally decided on Cadeon, because he seems the more laid back of the two.

  5. limecello says:

Hi Nalini! Great interview – loved your answers and Carolyn's comments!

Wow – never saw a question like that! Heh – can it be my memory *and* the hero's that are wiped? As for which one… Lorenzo Gage from Breathing Room. Tuscan villa? Yes plz!

  6. chichaihana says:

I would really love to be left of door of Riley 🙂 mMmm… he's kind of delicious :3

  7. Erika says:

The version of Clark Kent from the show Smallville. Tom Welling is yummy.

  8. Willa says:

Ooh – it would have to be Judd, hands down, everytime! After I had elbowed Brenna out of the way!

  9. ms bookjunkie says:

Please, this is too easy. Roarke, of course! *mmm, Roarke…* Unlike Eve, I would have no trouble spending his money. And his library is to die for!

  10. Chelsea B. says:

    Fun interview! 🙂
And I would also have to say Eric! I miss True Blood!

  11. QLady48 says:

Nice interview!! That was a verrry hott excerpt!! I have to agree with one of the other commenters, it's Roarke. I would give anything to meet him and see his house and cars!!! Would like to be there on a day when Eve was off-planet though, she's intimidating. Haha!! Thanks, Sue

  12. caitie_ar says:

Absolutely would say Lucas from 'Slave to Sensation' Congrats on the new release Nalini, can't wait to pick up my copy!

  13. Sue (okibi_insanity) says:

I giggled through the whole interview. It was a fun read. Hmmm…to answer your contest question, it would by Harry Dresden from Jim Butcher's Dresden Files because he such a sucker for a damsel in distress. So I know he will help with my case.

  14. Julie says:

Mm, to be left on the (proverbial) doorstep of Sam and Dean of Supernatural. Yum. They would totally investigate, too. AND they come together as a packaged deal. Double yum.

  15. kaikes says:

I would have to say Illium's because I already know that I have a soft spot for him and he won't kill me. He's sweet, cheeky, playful and already likes mortals. If i could be left on Raphael's doorstep and not be tortured to death, i would have said him instead.

  16. Renee says:

Great interview! I loved the q/a.

Hawke's doorstep would be a great place to find myself! An alpha with a sense of humor . . . who could ask for more?

  17. Lynz Pickles says:

Do I really have to choose? Because I don't want to choose. I want to be cloned many times over and sent to many heroes' doorsteps. Many, many heroes, all for my selfish self!

(But I guess that, if I really did have to go with just one, I'd battle Erika for Clark Kent. Tom Welling is just… *siiiiiiigh*)

  18. Ines says:

First I had to read what everyone else said – some good choices.
The mention of Roarke – a very good choice. 🙂
Roarke gets my voice as well.
Hope I'm not late to win the book.

  19. CupK8 says:

Wow, Carolyn, you ask the tough questions!

If my memory were wiped… one hero.. oh man…

I'd have to say Captain Wentworth from Persuasion (Ciaran Hinds, plzkthx). Okay, so that wasn't really tough. And Anne needs to be out of the picture, because there's no way he would abandon her. Which is why I would choose him. Maybe he would write a letter of confession to meee… *sigh*

  20. lindseye says:

I would like to end up on Wraths door from JR Ward's Dark Lover.
