A while back I started using a imprint name for my book: cJewel Books. There’s years of history about why cJewel is meaningful to me. I’ve been using the name for a while but I started feeling like I needed a logo to go with the imprint name. And so….
Here it is, in the full color, flat color, and black and white versions. There is a white one too, but since it won’t show up well here, I’ve omitted it. I’ll be using it in my eBooks and Print books and anywhere else it may be required. Anthony Piraino of One Button Mouse did the work for me. He also did my name font, by the way.
We started with me telling him what I wanted, which was a logo to use in my books that would Modernist (early 20th century) but also suggest quirkiness. We went through several iterations before arriving at the final. He started with font treatments for cJewel Books separate from the design element and whittled choices down with refinements, then combined font and graphic and did more refinements. Color didn’t come in until the very final rounds, by the way. All the way until the last minute I preferred a different treatment. They were all great, but when we were down to the last round, I chose this one. Because.
