The Fork

Ok, so my novella for the How To Find A Duke in 10 Days anthology is done. It’s off to copy-edits and proofreading. The tentative title is The Viscount’s First Kiss.

In the next few days, I will set up my website page for the novella, post an excerpt, and an extended excerpt in the members only section of my website.

And yes. This means I am now full steam ahead on the final read through of Surrender to Ruin.

Did I mention there was a fire on the property behind us? 30 acres burned and I was getting ready to evacuate. Whew.

The Fork is Out.

My Demon Warlord is done. I’ve sent it to final editing so a December release date is looking pretty darn good.

My story for the Christmas Anthology Christmas in Duke Street is done. The title is currently A Seduction in Winter, but I’m not sure that will be the final one. It’s off to the copy-editor.

I’m learning to work with and around the disruptions that are happening in what is supposed to be my prime writing time. This is due to the medical condition of a family member. There is nothing I can do about that but figure out how to deal with the changes.

I’ll post the anthology cover shortly.

The Fork

The draft for my story in the June anthology Dancing in The Duke’s Arms is DONE! And boy, I wasn’t sure I’d hit the deadline. There was a point, on Wednesday, when I realized I was missing 5 chapters of edits [long explanation omitted] and I had to redo them all. ALL. OF. THEM.

My story is tentatively titled, “An Suitable Woman.”

And now, back to My Immortals 7.

The Fork

My story for the anthology In The Duke’s Arms is done. It’s being read, and will be off to copy-edits in a couple of days, I imagine.

Brace yourself for the other authors in the anthology: Grace Burrowes, Miranda Neville, Shana Galen. Yeah.

Here’s the blurb for the story as it stands now — subject to improvement:

In Love With the Wrong Woman

The Duke of Oxthorpe leads an intensely private life far from the social whirl. He well understands the risk he takes when he sells a property bordering his to Miss Edith Clay, but he’s hopelessly in love with her. Oxthorpe knows he has no facility for sweet words, and that Edith does not much care for him. As the local village’s Christmas Assembly nears, can the duke prove to Edith that his heart is worthy of her love?

Find out more about In The Duke’s Arms.

Read chapter 1 of my story in the Anthology: Hope Springs.

I have sent my story for the Midnight Scandals Anthology off to be edited! Also in the anthology, a couple of writers you might recognize: Courtney Milan and Sherry Thomas. Awesome is a weak description of their work.

And now, at last, I can start writing Harsh Marit’s story for the fifth book in the My Immortals Series.

The Fork

YAY!!!!!!!!!

Not Proper Enough has been emailed to my editor. How did it go, you ask? Well, just in the last three days:

1. I discovered I had written TWO getting married scenes.
2. I deleted about 10,000 words and four chapters. (including the extra married scene)
3. I wrote 9,000 new words.
4. I completely rewrote the middle of the book.

Other than that, things went fine.

The Fork

Yeah. Fork picture by yours truly.

Today I emailed My Dangerous Pleasure to my editor at Grand Central Publishing. Four (4) days early.

So, Carolyn, What’s next?

Thanks for asking.

  • Reading
  • Goofing off
  • Writing proposal for next two paranormals
  • Begin work on . . . project I can almost talk about
  • Post Historical Short on website
  • Post Paranormal Short on website

Maybe in that order. Or maybe not.

The Fork is Out!

My Dangerous Pleasure is essentially done. I now have a week for final tweaks. I’ll post the fork pic when I actually send off the MS.

Today– ok, technically yesterday given that it’s 12:37 AM –I deleted one chapter, then rewrote the last three and ended up plus 2000 words. And that despite procrastination.

In other news, I have heard some early feedback about My Immortal Assassin and it makes me very happy. No official reviews yet, but the twitter early warning system is in effect. The hopeless pathetic part of me is whispering that maybe my twitter follower ARC readers don’t want to hurt my feelings and that’s why they’re saying good things. Only, would not silence be the better solution rather than a big fat lie? Yes, Writers Neurosis is in full effect.

Anyway, if you ‘d like to find out for yourself, you can enter my ARC contest from the previous post. Also, just FYI, the bird in that picture is a female Oriole and the bottle it’s clinging to is full of sugar water, not plain water. Lastly, I can represent to you that about 10 years ago the Audubon Society itself confirmed that Jewel central was the Northernmost point confirmed for the North American Oriole. We have two kinds that show up here; The North American and the Hooded Oriole. I don’t know which that is because it’s female. The males are easy to distinguish.

Anyhow, off to bed for me. Tweaking revisions for a week, then the fork.
